privacy policy

typo ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect as little as possible, we never sell your data, and we never use your text to train AI models.

what we collect

text you submit

When you paste text into typo, we send it to our AI provider for transformation. The input and output text are temporarily stored so you can access your results. We do not read, review, or use your text for any purpose beyond delivering the service.

email address

If you create an account or request an email link, we collect your email address. We use it for authentication, sending unlock links, and important service communications. We will never send marketing emails without your explicit consent.

payment information

Payments are processed entirely by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your full credit card number. Stripe provides us with a record of your transaction (amount, date, last four digits) for our records.

usage data

We collect anonymous usage analytics (pages visited, features used) to improve the product. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.

how we use your data

• To transform your text as requested
• To process payments and manage your account
• To send you unlock links when requested
• To improve our service through anonymous, aggregated analytics
• To prevent abuse and enforce our terms of service

We never use your submitted text to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model. Ever.

data retention

Unlocked transformations are stored for 30 days by default, after which they are automatically deleted. Locked (unpurchased) transformations are deleted after 7 days. Account data is retained as long as your account is active.

You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. We will delete all associated data within 7 business days.

cookies

We use a minimal set of cookies:

• Session cookies - required for authentication and keeping you signed in
• Analytics cookies - anonymous usage tracking via PostHog to help us understand how the product is used

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

third-party services

We share data with the following third parties, only as needed to operate the service:

• Anthropic - processes your text for transformation. Subject to Anthropic's API data policy, which prohibits using API inputs for training.
• Supabase - hosts our database and authentication system.
• Stripe - processes payments securely. We never handle your card details directly.
• PostHog - anonymous product analytics to help us improve the experience.

we do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Period.

your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to processing of your data
• Export your data in a portable format

changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice on our site. Continued use of typo after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
